Possibilities of using television programmes and shows in practical activities at the first grade of primary school

This thesis deals with the topic of the use of television programmes and shows in the teaching of practical activities at the first grade of primary school. The theoretical part is focused on the characteristics of a pupil of the younger school age, inquiry-based instruction and teaching, and the goals and concepts of primary technical literacy. The preparatory studies also discuss the technical areas of the Framework Curriculum for Primary Education, the cross-cutting theme of Media Education and characterise selected television educational programmes and shows. In the practical part, there are five themes which are processed, including didactic documentation, into the form of original preparations for teaching at the first grade of primary school. The effectiveness of some of the themes has been verified.

Verbal padding in spoken language on the Czech media scene exemplified by reporters of the Czech television and the Czech radio

Speaking is an immensely complex area of human communication. Speakers whose speech is fluent, without hesitation, pauses and any other shortcomings, have been and are still admired most of all speakers. Most people are encouraged by the effects of fillers and performance additions. However, the two means that fill the language to be more coherent are, of course, considered to be significant language flaws. Still, the oral speech is inherent to us. The author of the bachelor thesis used it to prove that the fillers and performance additions are not spoken only by ordinary people, but also by those for who the language is living. Since neither oral speech by professional speakers is completely coherent in any circumstances, even the best speakers are occasionally forced to use paradoxically language flaws for smoother speech. In order to confirm this theory, the author chose a media scene environment where he analyzed the speeches of Czech TV and Czech Radio editors.

Journalistic approaches in political-satirical TV shows in the USA

1 Abstract This thesis aims to examine the journalistic approaches in three American political satire television shows - The Daily Show, Last Week Tonight and The Late Show. The author searches the common features of the three examined shows, tries to characterize them, and place them into the media context of the United States of America. The author describes to the reader how these shows, through political satire, combine opinion journalism, investigative journalism and humour. Because this thesis deals with American shows, it mostly uses foreign professional literature. This work has two large parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical passage, the author tries to define satire as a genre, mentions its use in politics and the relationship satire plays between journalism and humour. The theoretical part continues with the description of the particular journalistic approaches used in these shows and contains the explanation of the position of the examined shows in regards to the approaches these shows use bordering between investigative journalism and comedic humour. Czech political satire on TV and it's comparation with foreign countries

This thesis deals with the TV political satire. It characterizes the selected audio-visual session of the genre of the Czech and American productions. Programs from the Czech environment were Česká soda, S politiky netančím and Politické harašení aneb S politiky stále netančíme, 168 hodin and Kancelář Blaník. The American programs were The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and The Onion News Network. All these TV programs were initially characterized from formal and content points of view. The rise of television political satire in the USA, the Czech Republic and Germany in the new millennium

The work "Rise of television political satire in the USA, Czech Republic and Germany in the new millennium" maps the development of television political satire in the United States, Germany and the Czech Republic in the period from 2000 to the present days with a look at the history of this genre in each respected country. Special attention is focused on the programs that had the greatest influence on the current form of this genre and influenced it the most. The first part of the work presents the history of television political satire in each individual country and introduces their current representatives of this genre, which have the greatest influence in the modern day. This section also introduces the obstacles of their cultural environment in which the shows were created to provide a more holistic view on obstacles that these shows have had to overcome in today's media world. In the second part, selected shows will be analysed from a technical and formal point of view and attention will also be focused on their hosts. Trends in Czech TV Travel Series Between the Years 2010 - 2020

The Trends in Czech TV Travel Series Between the Years 2010-2020 diploma thesis outlines the typology and main trends in travel series that premiered on Czech public broadcast television channels between 2010 and 2020. The aim of this thesis is to introduce categories of Czech TV travel series and describe how the viewer is addressed. In the theoretical section, the terms such as TV travel journalism and the issue of celebritization and celebrification are defined. By introducing the concept of the Tourist Gaze, the problematic aspects of TV travel series are defined, be it the stereotypization of a displayed environment or the commercialization of its content. Following the methodology section, the thematical classification of Czech TV travel series is presented. In turn, the main part of the thesis focuses on establishing five typological categories of the travel series. After analysing several randomly selected episodes of the programmes, the thesis then sums up the most important peculiarities of Czech public broadcast production of travel series between the years 2010-2020 and identifies the most crucial development trends within the genre.

Political-news satire in The Daily Show

The aim of the Bachelor thesis "Political-news satire in The Daily Show" is to map evolution of political and news satire in TV in United States of America with emphasis to evolution and impact of the cult show The Daily Show, which is airing on Comedy Central channel. It tries to map structure and evolution of the show throughout the whole history of the show. After general introduction to the history of political satire in television before The Daily Show was broadcast, the thesis focuses on the most prominent personalities who worked as a staff of the show and had the biggest impact on formation of content and the message of The Daily Show. Particular attention is paid to the main era of Jon Stewart's role as a host, where the show has experienced a period of the greatest fame and has influenced the future of the political-news satire to the present. However, it also examines the main changes in recent history of the show and the changes brought by the new moderator Trevor Noah. In the last part, the work focuses on the influence that the program and its prominent personalities have had on the current wave of increased interest and popularity of political- satire not only in the United States, but all around the world and examines the most famous figures of contemporary political-news satire.

Contemporary media content through the eyes of child prosumers

This thesis contains a qualitative analysis of the Czech children's television program, which the main topic is the presentation of other cultures. The aim is to answer a question, of how other cultures are presented to the children audience within this particular program. The key terms are viewed in the context of the concept of culture and cultural identity as defined by social anthropologists, that is, as a set of meanings and practices that are learned. The findings are also understood and compared to multicultural education, in which a culturally standard approach is seen as the prevailing approach in the researched TV program. Attention is also paid to the representation of children in the media content, and to the structure of children's media content. The qualitative analysis brought the resulting scheme entitled as Strategy of Children's Knowledge, which defines the three phases way in which individual areas and different cultures are presented to the audience. The first introduction is the first step when the viewer gets acquainted with emotionally and ideologically unpainted facts. Television production and a preschooler

This bachelor's thesis deals with the subject of television and film production for preschool children. The thesis has got two parts - a theoretical and a practical part. The variety of genres and the history of the television and film production for the youngest viewers are described in that theoretical section where the beginning of the film and the television is briefly explained too. The basic information concerning the film and television theory is also included in this section. In the practical part of the thesis, there is evidence based on a one-month observation of a children's broadcast offer on publicly free TV stations. A questionnaire, which was prepared on this way collected data, is also attached. It is focused on viewer ratings as well as the popularity of programs among children. Thirty preschool children aged 5 to 7 responded to it and the results are carefully analysed in detail. One of the main goals of the thesis is finding out the educational benefits and risk impacts of the most watched programs by preschool children. The next main aim is to find out which programs children prefer to watch and what they like about them.
